We dropped by at this
remarkable town on the way to Varna. Tsar Simeon moved the capital of the First
Bulgarian Empire (681-1018) from Pliska to Veliki in 893, and decreed Orthodox
Christianity as the religion of the empire, and Bulgarian as the language. The
capital was then shifted to Veliko Tarnovo in the Second Bulgarian Empire.
Nowadays only ruins remained certifying the glory days.

Cyrillic alphabets were created by these 2 Bulgarian brothers - St.Ciril and Methodius in the First Bulgarian Empire during the 10th century AD.
