20130303 Shiraz

At 2am a checkpoint police woke me up in the bus checking my passport. Later I was told that this had been a regular drug trafficking route from east to west. Control was imposed here.

Arg-e Karim Khan, this fortress is built in the middle of Shiraz city, RLS150k was a bit steep considering the exhibits inside, it is more iconic than its function.

At Aramgah-e Shah-e Cheragh (Shrine of Sayyed Mir Ahmad) a guide disallowed me to enter the shrine. I couldn’t understand the reason, till a gentleman guided me to another entrance to deposit my bag and camera. He even helped me to bypass body checking. Strict security was imposed on this among the holiest Shiite sites in Iran. There were 2 shrines, both were dotted with millions of mirror tiles reflecting the passion within. Impressive! Acc' to LP, theoretically non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the shrine.

Shiraz is famous because of Hafez, one of the greatest poets in Iran. His tomb offers not much to foreign tourist unless you like his poems or enjoying the ambience.

Hotel Hafez, the most comfortable hotel I had stayed in Iran. Located near to old city.

 A view on the street.

Arg-e Karim Khan, a fortress in the middle of city.

An old building near to bazaar.

Studio.

The balconies look shaky.

Bazaar with a unique vaulted ceiling.

Manikins in black.

Nasir-al-Molk Mosque, I had no more interest to visit any mosque at this stage of journey.

Shadows.

Nice... I don't know if this shop or whatever?

Herbal seeds mixed in syrup, the seed itself is tasteless.

Now I know how the bread is made, machine has replaced manpower.

Painting at a car park.

Hafez Tomb at night, some people are so emotional to recite Hafez' poems and a lady was weeping on his tomb.

Hafez Tomb, the writing on the marble is said part of his poems.
